Fast, safe tree removal for Powder Springs homeowners.
Close to Douglasville
Powder Springs, west of Cobb County along the Silver Comet Trail, has a quieter, more spread-out feel — the Macland Road corridor connects it toward Hiram and Dallas, and larger lots with mature tree cover are common on this side of town.
Powder Springs is a Cobb County city of 16,887 people (2020 Census), roughly 17 to 18 miles north of Douglasville. It was chartered as Springville in 1838 and renamed in 1859 for the seven springs inside its limits, whose minerals turned the nearby sand black; people once called it Gunpowder Springs. Early settlers went looking for gold at Lost Mountain and found little of it.

Trees & Weather
The larger lots on this side of Powder Springs keep a lot of mature tree cover, hardwoods and pines both. Hardwoods shed big dead limbs after a dry summer, and pines on wet ground start to lean after long rains like the September 2009 storm that flooded creeks across metro Atlanta. When a tree has leaned for a while, we look at the soil around its base: fresh cracks or heaving ground mean it is moving now, not just leaning.
Common Powder Springs requests: a tree too close to a foundation, a dead oak hanging over the backyard, a stump a previous owner left behind, or a handful of trees cleared for a pool or a shed. That last kind of job can cross the city's ten-tree line, so we count the trees during the estimate and tell you plainly whether a land disturbance permit is needed.
Permits
In Powder Springs you can remove up to nine trees without a permit. Ten or more takes a $150 land disturbance permit, and review runs 5 to 10 business days. Trees required by zoning, platted landscaping, stream buffers and floodplains are off-limits, while dead and hazard trees are exempt. A specimen tree that comes out has to be replaced at twice its canopy, and the city asks for an arborist's letter before a specimen removal.
On the larger Powder Springs lots, the job starts with where the truck and grinder can reach without tearing up the lawn, and we settle that before the work day.
Being further from Douglasville doesn't mean a lesser process — every Powder Springs estimate gets the same in-person assessment as a job closer to home.
