Serving Winston, Georgia
Fast, safe tree removal for Winston homeowners.
Close to Douglasville
Winston, a small, rural community near the Douglas/Carroll County line, has a quieter pace and larger, more wooded lots than the busier towns closer to Douglasville — the kind of setting where a single dead or leaning tree can be a bigger deal simply because there's less commercial tree-service presence nearby.
Winston sits in southwestern Douglas County, west of Douglasville, with the Post Road exit off I-20 as its front door. It was a town once: the General Assembly chartered it in 1906, named for an early settler known as “Uncle Jackie” Winn, and the charter was repealed in 1995. The 30187 ZIP code crosses into Carroll County, so a Winston mailing address doesn't always mean a Douglas County lot.

Trees & Weather
Winston lots run bigger and more wooded than the ones closer to town, and much of that wood is loblolly pine. The Georgia Forestry Commission names loblolly, shortleaf and Virginia pines as the three species southern pine beetle attacks most readily, and says Piedmont outbreaks come around every six to ten years, often after drought, flooding or storm damage has stressed the trees. A pine whose needles turn pale green, then yellow, then red-brown within a season is the first one to have looked at.
Winston jobs often mean dead pines at the edge of a pasture or a long drive, hardwoods leaning over a barn or shop, and storm-downed trees across a fence line far from the road. On a rural lot the plan starts with access: where the truck can park, how far limbs have to be dragged, and whether a trailer can get in without rutting soft ground. That gets settled on the walk-through, not on the morning of the job.
Permits
With no city government, a Winston tree falls under Douglas County. The county's tree conservation article in its Unified Development Code is aimed at development, and we couldn't retrieve the text when we checked, so for anything bigger than a tree or two we ask Douglas County Planning & Zoning before work starts. If your 30187 address is actually on the Carroll County side, Carroll County's rules apply to that lot instead, and we check them for that address before we quote.
Winston doesn't have much of a local tree-service presence. We give every estimate here the same attention as a job closer to Douglasville.
When one pine in a Winston stand starts to brown, we look at its neighbors for beetle signs before recommending which trees come down.
